Where do you get your ideas?

Writing is ubiquitous and so we often believe it is easy to simply write something. However, sitting down in front of a blank screen seems to suck all the words right out of one’s brain. Or so it seems to me.

But having a prompt seems to help. It gives a starting place. It is a concrete way to begin. Beginning is often the hardest part. However, with something to goad the brain into action, it might be easier.

Of course, there is always the converse. With a prompt, one is trapped into a particular place. Luckily, my plan is to find my own prompts and write something from there.
